arcadian jug r.s.

Pulled from a jacket pocket, as a donation at the recent OB's A.G.M; this Arcadian ware jug joins the collection we have on display in the Exhibition room.

The small collection features the school crest but this little jug, standing at just over two inches tall, has the Berkhamsted coat of arms with the azure castle and three domed towers and one of the many ways of spelling Berkhampstead. The coat of arms was granted to the Corporation of Berkhamsted in the reign of James I.  WH Goss developed a range of crested china, sold in areas where there was a public school or college. Arcadian is a makers/trade mark produced by Arkinstall.
