The School & College magazine, dated March, 1964, features a double page, profile piece on Barbara Winifred Russell (Headmistress 1950 -1971), describing her as ‘the alert, vigorous Head of an alert, vigorous School.’ There was a small snippet from the Daily Express dated June, 1966, tucked inside the front cover. It was a quote from Miss Russell, who was speaking at the Boys’ Prize giving – “Educate a boy and you educate a man. Educate a girl and you educate a family.”
